We started with a simple, annoying fact.
Every evening, perfectly good food is thrown away a few streets from people who would gladly have bought it.
It began at a bakery counter.
BenDo began in Casablanca, watching bakeries bag up unsold bread at closing time. The bread was fine. The bakers hated throwing it out. The only thing standing between that bread and someone who wanted it was a way for them to find each other in the last hour of the day.
So we built one. A map of what's still available near you right now, a price that makes rescuing an easy yes, and a pickup that takes fifteen seconds at a busy counter.
Today BenDo works the same way for cafés, groceries, patisseries, restaurants and hotels across Morocco: one app for people who want to eat well for less, and one dashboard for businesses that would rather sell their surplus than bin it.
Four things we don't compromise on.
Waste is a design problem
If good food is being thrown away, something in the system is badly designed. Design problems are fixable.
Affordable, never cheap
A rescued bag should feel like a find. Never like a compromise, and never like a leftover.
Local first
Every partner is someone's neighbourhood shop. We build for their reality: small teams, busy counters, thin margins.
Say the true number
We'd rather publish a modest figure we can stand behind than a flattering one we can't.
